Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026: Minecraft Dungeons II and Modern Warfare 4 Head to Japan
Xbox is bringing a major lineup of games and fan events to Tokyo Game Show 2026 as the company celebrates 25 years of Xbox and more than two decades of Xbox in Japan.
The company confirmed that it will host the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 Broadcast on September 17, alongside playable games on the show floor and an Xbox FanFest event in Tokyo. The broadcast will feature new gameplay, TGS-exclusive content and updates on games coming to Xbox platforms this year.
Tokyo Game Show 2026 itself will take place from September 17 through September 21 at Makuhari Messe. This year’s event is expanding to five days, making it the longest Tokyo Game Show to date.
When Is the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 Broadcast?
The Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 Broadcast will take place on Thursday, September 17 at 7:00 p.m. JST.
That corresponds to:
- 3:00 a.m. Pacific Time
- 6:00 a.m. Eastern Time
- 11:00 a.m. UK time
The presentation will be hosted by Misuzu Araki and will include new gameplay footage, TGS-exclusive content and moments created specifically for the Tokyo Game Show stage.
Xbox says the broadcast will be streamed through the official Tokyo Game Show YouTube channel as well as Xbox’s U.S. and Japanese social channels.
Minecraft Dungeons II Gets Its First TGS Hands-On
One of the biggest playable attractions for Xbox fans in Japan will be Minecraft Dungeons II.
Following its appearance at gamescom, the upcoming cooperative dungeon-crawling sequel will make its first appearance on the Tokyo Game Show show floor. Japanese players attending the event will have an opportunity to get hands-on with the game.
Minecraft Dungeons II is scheduled to launch on September 29, 2026, and Xbox says it will be available day one through Game Pass.
The TGS appearance gives players an early opportunity to experience the next chapter of the Minecraft Dungeons series before its full release.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Will Also Be Playable
Xbox is also bringing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 to Tokyo Game Show 2026.
The game will appear on the show floor with Xbox’s partner Happinet, allowing visitors in Japan to try its multiplayer mode ahead of the game’s global launch on October 23, 2026.
Call of Duty will also be featured alongside other Xbox titles at Xbox FanFest Tokyo.
Xbox says the Call of Duty presence will be located in Hall 6, 06-N4.
Xbox FanFest Tokyo Takes Place September 17
Xbox FanFest is also returning to Japan as part of the company’s Tokyo Game Show plans.
The Japan stop of the 2026 FanFest tour will take place on September 17 and will include a watch party for the Xbox Tokyo Game Show broadcast.
Special guests Misuzu Araki and Larry Hyrb are scheduled to participate, with Xbox describing the event as a community-focused celebration featuring exclusive experiences and activities.
Xbox Brings Back Its TGS Black Cat
Xbox is also bringing back a familiar symbol from its Tokyo Game Show appearances: its black cat mascot.
The company says black cats are traditionally considered good luck in Japan, and the Xbox TGS cat has gradually become a recurring part of its Tokyo Game Show identity.
For 2026, Xbox’s artwork places the cat at the center of an iconic Tokyo crossing, with a green skyline surrounding the silhouette.
There is also a new interactive element planned. Fans will eventually have the opportunity to help name the Xbox TGS cat, with Xbox promising more information about voting through its social channels.
How to Watch the Xbox TGS 2026 Broadcast
Fans who cannot attend Tokyo Game Show can watch the Xbox presentation online.
The broadcast will stream live on:
- Xbox Japan’s YouTube channel
- Xbox’s global YouTube channel
- Xbox on Twitch
- Tokyo Game Show’s official YouTube channel
Xbox says the global stream will include American Sign Language (ASL) and English Audio Descriptions (AD). Additional language support will be added after the broadcast, including Hindi, Chinese, French, German, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese and several other languages.
Because the presentation will contain both Japanese and English audio, Xbox recommends using captions when watching in another language.
Why Xbox’s TGS 2026 Appearance Matters
Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show presence comes during a milestone year for the company.
Xbox is celebrating 25 years of Xbox, while also marking more than 20 years of its presence in Japan. The company highlighted the growing number of developers and publishing partners it works with across Japan and the broader Asian region.
That makes this year’s presentation more than a standard game showcase. Xbox is using TGS 2026 to emphasize its relationship with Japanese developers, players and creators while showcasing upcoming releases to a global audience.
The timing is also significant for Tokyo Game Show itself. The 2026 edition marks the show’s 30th anniversary and expands the event to five days for the first time.
What Happens Next
The next major Xbox event will be the Tokyo Game Show 2026 Broadcast on September 17 at 7:00 p.m. JST.
Fans can expect new gameplay and TGS-exclusive content during the presentation, while visitors attending the event will have opportunities to play Minecraft Dungeons II and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.
With both Xbox and Tokyo Game Show celebrating major milestones this year, the September 17 presentation could provide one of the clearest looks yet at Xbox’s upcoming games and its continued push to connect Japanese and global gaming audiences.
