Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember Sets March 4, 2027 Release as Alpha Demo Goes Live
Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember now has a firm release date, with KOEI TECMO and Team NINJA confirming that the dark fantasy action RPG will launch on March 4, 2027.
The announcement comes with an immediate opportunity for players to try the sequel. A limited-time Alpha Demo is available starting today, September 16, and runs through September 30, 2026. The demo gives players an early look at the game’s combat, Three Kingdoms battlefields and demon-infested world.
The sequel is planned for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox on PC, Microsoft Store and Steam. KOEI TECMO previously announced that the game would also be available day one through Xbox Game Pass.
Wo Long 2 Alpha Demo Is Available Now
The Alpha Demo focuses on part of the Changban stage, throwing players into a battlefield filled with demons and powerful enemies.
Players can experiment with the game’s evolved Chinese martial arts system, which emphasizes movement between offense and defense. The combat includes Deflect, allowing incoming attacks to be nullified and redirected, along with a range of weapons and Martial Arts techniques.
The demo also introduces Insight Skills, which strengthen the protagonist’s actions during combat. These abilities can be used to counter attacks, knock enemies into walls and bring down enemies attacking from above.
The Alpha Demo is not simply a combat showcase. It also gives players an early look at how Team NINJA is expanding the battlefield structure for the sequel.
Three Kingdoms Battlefields Become Open Areas
Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember reimagines famous Three Kingdoms locations including Changban and Red Cliffs as expansive battlefields.
Rather than following a single route, players can approach enemy positions in different ways. The game’s description highlights options such as flanking enemy forces, capturing bases, setting traps and even recruiting enemy generals.
That freedom is designed to make the battlefield itself part of the strategy. Players will encounter enemy strongholds and demonic lairs while deciding how to push through each area.
A Dark Fantasy Three Kingdoms Story
The sequel takes place in an alternate dark-fantasy version of the Three Kingdoms period, combining historical figures and locations with demons and supernatural elements inspired by Chinese classical literature.
The story also brings back characters from Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, while being designed so newcomers can follow the new adventure without having played the first game.
The original Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty has surpassed 5 million players worldwide, according to KOEI TECMO.
Co-Op and Character Creation Return
Team NINJA is also bringing back multiplayer co-op and character creation in Wo Long 2.
Both features can be experienced during the limited-time Alpha Demo, giving players an early opportunity to test the sequel’s multiplayer systems and build their own character.
There is also an incentive for players who take on the demo’s boss. Defeating Wuzhiqi earns the special Fledgling Phoenix Helmet, which can be used in the full game.
Players are also being encouraged to submit feedback through a survey during the Alpha period, giving the development team additional input before the March launch.
Wo Long 2 Pre-Orders Are Open
Pre-orders for Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember are also available.
The digital pre-order bonus includes the Creator Goddess Garb set. A Digital Deluxe Edition is being offered as well, including the Season Pass, digital mini soundtrack and digital mini art book.
Steam currently lists the game for Q1 2027, while KOEI TECMO’s latest announcement gives the specific worldwide release date as March 4, 2027.
