Verity Early Access Begins in U.S. Theaters as Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson Thriller Nears Wide Release
The wait for Verity is getting shorter for U.S. moviegoers. The psychological thriller starring Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett is receiving early-access theatrical screenings across the United States on Wednesday, September 30, ahead of its wider October 2 release.
The Amazon MGM Studios adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel has become a major entertainment search topic as audiences prepare to see one of Hoover’s most discussed stories translated to the big screen.
The early-access screenings give some U.S. audiences the opportunity to watch the film before its official wide-release date.
When Does Verity Release in the U.S.?
Verity early access begins September 30, 2026, with screenings listed by major theater chains and individual cinemas around the country. Cinemark, for example, lists a dedicated “Verity Early Access” event for September 30.
The movie’s broader theatrical release is October 2, 2026. Amazon’s official entertainment site identifies October 2 as the worldwide theatrical release date.
That means viewers may see different dates depending on the screening they choose: September 30 for early access and October 2 for the regular theatrical rollout.
Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson Lead the Cast
Dakota Johnson plays Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who is hired to continue the work of bestselling novelist Verity Crawford, played by Hathaway.
Josh Hartnett plays Jeremy Crawford, Verity’s husband.
The story takes Lowen to the Crawford family home, where she discovers disturbing autobiographical material connected to Verity. As she investigates, the boundary between truth and fiction becomes increasingly difficult to determine.
The movie is directed by Michael Showalter, with a screenplay credited to Nick Antosca and Colleen Hoover.
Why Verity Is Trending Now
The timing of the search spike is closely tied to the film’s arrival in theaters.
With early-access screenings starting September 30 and the wide release following October 2, moviegoers are now searching for Verity showtimes, tickets, cast information and release details.
The movie has also received significant attention during its promotional run. Hathaway, Johnson and Hartnett have been appearing at premieres and discussing the adaptation as the theatrical debut approaches.
The New York premiere took place on September 29, adding another burst of attention immediately before the U.S. early-access screenings.
Recent coverage has also focused on the film’s differences from Hoover’s novel, including a scene involving Hathaway and Johnson that director Michael Showalter said was improvised during production.
What Is Verity About?
The film follows Lowen after she accepts a ghostwriting assignment connected to the injured and incapacitated Verity Crawford.
While staying at the Crawford estate, Lowen finds what appears to be a disturbing manuscript written by Verity. The discovery raises questions about the family’s past and forces Lowen to reconsider what she can trust.
The adaptation is therefore built around the same central mystery that made Hoover’s novel a major talking point: how much of what Lowen discovers is true, and how much is fiction?
The film has been rated R in the United States.
Verity’s Theatrical Release Comes First
Despite the movie’s connection to Amazon MGM Studios, Verity is currently a theatrical release rather than a Prime Video debut.
Amazon has confirmed the October 2 worldwide theatrical date, while an official Prime Video streaming date has not been announced.
For audiences searching today, the immediate opportunity is therefore the September 30 early-access screenings or the regular theatrical release beginning October 2.
