The Traitors has done it again.
The Peacock reality competition won Outstanding Reality Competition Program at the 2026 Emmy Awards on September 14, extending its winning streak in the category to three consecutive years. The victory came during the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
The latest win puts The Traitors firmly among the dominant reality competition shows of the current Emmy era. The Television Academy lists the program as a 2026 nominee in the category alongside Dancing With the Stars, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Survivor and Top Chef.
The Traitors Wins Reality Competition Emmy Again
The 2026 victory follows wins for The Traitors at the 2024 and 2025 Emmy Awards.
That makes this the show’s third straight Outstanding Reality Competition Program Emmy. The Television Academy’s records confirm its previous victories in both 2024 and 2025.
The latest award also adds to the show’s broader Emmy success. The Television Academy currently lists The Traitors with 14 Emmy wins from 17 nominations, spanning multiple categories and seasons.
Alan Cumming Celebrates Another Emmy Win
Host Alan Cumming was also part of the show’s successful Emmy night.
Cumming won Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program, giving the Traitors team another major award connected to the 2026 ceremony.
During his acceptance speech for the program, Cumming thanked the Television Academy and highlighted the show’s audience. He also used the moment to encourage viewers to participate in the U.S. voting process.
Why The Traitors Is Trending Now
The Emmy win explains the sudden surge in interest around The Traitors.
The award arrived during one of television’s biggest annual events, putting the Peacock series back at the center of the entertainment conversation as viewers searched for the night’s winners and biggest moments.
It is also a particularly notable result because The Traitors defeated several established reality franchises, including Survivor, Dancing With the Stars, RuPaul’s Drag Race and Top Chef.
For viewers who have followed the show’s rapid rise, the 2026 result represents more than another trophy. It confirms that The Traitors remains a major force in the reality competition category even as long-running franchises continue to compete for the same Emmy.
The Emmy Win Comes as The Traitors Expands
The Emmy attention arrives just before the franchise introduces another major twist.
The Traitors: New Blood, a spinoff featuring civilian contestants rather than the familiar celebrity-heavy cast, is scheduled to premiere on September 17, 2026. The new edition features 22 everyday Americans competing for up to $250,000.
That timing gives the Emmy victory additional relevance for Peacock. The franchise enters its next phase with another major television award behind it and a new version of the format arriving just days later.
For now, however, the headline belongs to The Traitors: three consecutive Emmys for Outstanding Reality Competition Program.
