SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance Gets Major DLC and Free Update

SEGA and Lizardcube have released a new DLC for SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance, bringing crossover content and gameplay updates to the action title.
The DLC, titled “SEGA Villains Stage,” launched on April 3, 2026, alongside a free update available to all players.
SEGA Villains Take Center Stage
The new DLC introduces crossover bosses from iconic SEGA franchises. Players can face:
- Goro Majima (Yakuza series)
- DeathAdder (Golden Axe)
- Dr. Eggman (Sonic the Hedgehog)
The content includes:
- 5 new crossover stages
- 3 boss encounters
- 2 Boss Rush modes
- 3 additional Ninpo abilities
- 3 outfits
- 6 music tracks
The DLC becomes accessible after completing the fourth zone in the base game.
Free Update Adds Hardcore Mode
Alongside the paid DLC, a free update has been released for all players of SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance.
Key additions include:
- Hardcore Mode with tougher enemies and stronger boss attacks
- New combat settings, allowing adjustments to recovery frames, damage effects, and camera shake
- General quality-of-life improvements
These changes aim to provide a more customizable and challenging experience without requiring additional purchase.
Developers Highlight Player Feedback
According to SEGA Senior Director Takaharu Terada, the DLC expanded beyond its initial scope due to development ambitions and community feedback.
He noted that what started as a boss-focused expansion evolved into a larger content update, including new abilities and gameplay options shaped by player requests.
Ben Fiquet, CEO and Art Director at Lizardcube, described the DLC as a tribute to SEGA’s legacy, combining characters and elements from multiple franchises into one experience.
