Superhero fighting fans have a new title to jump into as Invincible VS officially launches today, bringing brutal 3v3 combat and a full roster of characters from the popular Invincible universe.
Developed by Quarter Up, the in-house studio of Skybound Games, the game is now available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Xbox Cloud as an Xbox Play Anywhere title.
Full roster and fast-paced 3v3 combat
At launch, Invincible VS features a lineup of 18 fighters pulled from the comic and animated series, including fan favorites like Mark Grayson (Invincible), Omni-Man, Atom Eve, and Rex Splode. The game also introduces an original character, Ella Mental, voiced by rapper Tierra Whack.
The core gameplay revolves around team-based 3v3 tag fighting, where players can switch between characters mid-battle, chaining combos and unleashing powerful attacks. Each fighter brings unique abilities and brutal finishing moves, staying true to the intense and violent tone the Invincible franchise is known for.
Multiple modes for different playstyles
The game launches with four primary modes designed to appeal to both casual players and competitive fighting game fans.
Training Mode allows players to learn mechanics and master individual characters, while Arcade Mode offers character-focused experiences and additional lore. Versus Mode is built for head-to-head matches, and Story Mode delivers a cinematic experience with narrative-driven battles.
Story Mode stands out as a major highlight. Designed as a playable extension of the animated series, it includes over 25 minutes of original cinematic content. Set between events in Season 3, the story brings back voice actors from the show, including J.K. Simmons as Omni-Man, Gillian Jacobs as Atom Eve, and Jason Mantzoukas as Rex Splode.
A game built for Invincible fans
The developers have positioned Story Mode as a “bonus episode” where players take control of the action themselves. It expands on the universe while maintaining the tone and style fans expect, blending fast combat with narrative progression.
The game’s visual style and combat mechanics are also designed to reflect the raw, high-impact battles seen in both the comics and the animated series.
Post-launch content already planned
While the game launches with a full roster, additional content is already on the way. The Year 1 Character Pass will introduce four new fighters, including Universa and The Immortal, set to arrive later this year.
Players who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition will receive access to upcoming characters, along with additional cosmetic items and bonuses. The pass will also be available separately for standard edition players.
A strong debut for a new studio
Invincible VS marks the debut title for Quarter Up, a studio formed by developers who previously worked on Killer Instinct (2013). The team’s experience in fighting games is evident in the fluid combat system and focus on competitive gameplay.
With its combination of fast-paced mechanics, fan-favorite characters, and a story-driven experience, the game is aiming to carve out a place in the fighting game genre.
Launch day excitement
The game officially goes live at 10:00 AM PT, with players able to jump into battles across multiple platforms. As anticipation builds, the developers have expressed excitement about seeing how players experiment with different team combinations and strategies.
For fans of the Invincible universe and fighting games alike, Invincible VS offers a mix of brutal action, cinematic storytelling, and competitive gameplay — all launching together on day one.
