HCLTech Wins $1.14 Billion AI Deal With Major European Client
India’s HCLTech has secured a landmark $1.14 billion technology services contract with a major European company, marking one of the largest new business wins for the IT services provider. The announcement sent HCLTech’s shares sharply higher in early trading on Friday, reflecting investor confidence in the company’s growth prospects.
The company said the agreement will run for four-and-a-half years, with an option to extend it for an additional five years. HCLTech did not disclose the identity of the European client.
AI to Drive Digital Workplace Transformation
Under the agreement, HCLTech will build and manage an AI-driven operating model designed to modernize the client’s global digital workplace and enterprise network infrastructure.
The project will leverage artificial intelligence to improve operational efficiency, streamline IT management, and enhance digital workplace services across the client’s global operations. The deal further strengthens HCLTech’s position in the rapidly growing AI-powered enterprise services market.
A Completely New Client
Unlike many large IT outsourcing contracts that involve renewals or expansions of existing partnerships, HCLTech confirmed that this agreement represents entirely new business.
The company emphasized that the contract is neither an extension of an existing engagement nor a renewal, making it a significant addition to its client portfolio.
Shares Jump on Strong Market Response
Investors welcomed the announcement, sending HCLTech shares up 4.6% at the opening bell on Friday.
The positive sentiment also lifted India’s broader technology sector, with the Nifty IT index rising around 2.5% during early trading as investors viewed the deal as a positive sign for demand in the IT services industry.
Focus on AI-Led Growth
The contract highlights the increasing demand for AI-enabled digital transformation projects as global enterprises invest in modernizing their technology infrastructure.
Indian IT companies have been expanding their AI capabilities to help businesses automate operations, improve employee productivity, strengthen cybersecurity, and optimize enterprise networks.
For HCLTech, the deal reinforces its strategy of focusing on high-value digital transformation services powered by artificial intelligence.
Earnings Ahead
The announcement comes just days before HCLTech is scheduled to report its first-quarter fiscal 2027 results on July 13.
The company has projected annual revenue growth of 1% to 4% for the current fiscal year. Investors will closely watch the upcoming earnings report for updates on deal momentum, AI-related business growth, client spending trends, and management’s outlook for the remainder of the year.
The $1.14 billion contract is expected to strengthen HCLTech’s long-term order book and further position the company as a leading partner for large-scale AI-driven enterprise transformation projects across global markets.
