“This is a really hard post for me to make,” Lainey wrote, explaining that she wanted to wait until after her grandmother was laid to rest before sharing her memories.

She recalled being extremely nervous, but said her aunt made her feel safe, confident and as though she belonged beside her.

“She didn’t just tell me to chase my dreams, she helped me get there,” Lainey wrote.

Members of Parton’s family were seen gathering at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville, where the private funeral was held. The family had previously announced that Parton wanted a small service attended only by immediate family.
Parton’s official obituary confirms that she died peacefully in Nashville on August 25, 2026, at age 80. Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Woodlawn Memorial Park is handling her arrangements.
Her husband, Carl Dean, died in March 2025 after nearly six decades of marriage. Parton’s burial took place at the Nashville memorial park where she was to be laid to rest beside him, according to reports following her death.
Dolly Parton’s Death Was Announced by Her Nephew
Parton’s death was announced on August 25 by her nephew Bryan Seaver, who served as her head of security for more than two decades.
Seaver said the announcement was something Parton had asked him to make years earlier. He described the moment as one filled with both pride and sadness while emphasizing that Parton had prepared her family for the reality of her eventual passing.
Parton’s publicist later said she had died at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville after a brief battle with cancer.
