Dan and Dani Slam “Dodgy” Marble Tiling as The Block Walkarounds Turn Brutal

The Block’s Week 3 walkarounds delivered plenty of praise, plenty of confusion — and one major design disaster that had Dani completely stunned.

With Dan and Dani preparing to welcome their new baby, the duo made the most of their latest walkaround, taking a close look at the Main Bedrooms and Walk-in Robes delivered by the teams.

And while some contestants impressed, House 4’s controversial marble tiling quickly became one of the biggest talking points of the week.

“You Can’t Do That!”

Courtney and Sev’s room immediately raised eyebrows after Sev took on the tiling herself in an attempt to save money.

Dan acknowledged the effort, saying, “Good on her for having a go.”

But Dani was far less forgiving.

After spotting the uneven and questionable edges around the marble tiles, she gasped:

“You can’t do that!”

For Dani, learning how to tile in a high-pressure renovation competition simply wasn’t the right move.

“Holy moly,” she said as she continued looking around the room.

The tiling wasn’t the only issue. The pair also questioned the carpet inlay within the floorboards, the expense of the coffered ceiling and the controversial bedhead.

The wardrobe also came under fire, with Dani pointing out that House 4 felt like a “completely different house” compared with the bathroom the team delivered just a week earlier.

Dan quickly explained the reason: the pair hadn’t designed the wardrobe layout themselves, having inherited the existing configuration when they selected the house.

Adam and Jolene’s Room Leaves Dani Perplexed

The walkaround began at Adam and Jolene’s house, where Dani immediately questioned a bench inside the walk-in robe.

For her, it simply didn’t feel right for the size of the space.

Dan was also confused by the placement of the full-length mirror, while Dani felt the bedroom itself had become overcrowded.

“The bed looks really small in the space now because it’s just shoved in,” she said, questioning several of the additions made to the room.

Chantel and Wyatt Impress With a Massive Wardrobe

Next up was Chantel and Wyatt’s home, where the size of the walk-in robe immediately made an impression.

“It feels like a kitchen, it goes on and on and on,” Dani said.

But not every design feature was a winner.

Dan wasn’t convinced by the archway behind the bed.

“How do we feel about the archway? Is it a new in thing, the archways? It looks like a tombstone,” he joked.

Dani agreed with the criticism, although she loved the couple’s more minimal approach to the bed and wall lighting.

Lisa and Rosco Face a Serious Light Problem

At House 3, Dani was initially impressed by Lisa and Rosco’s stylish door.

But she quickly identified a major practical problem.

“The first thing I will raise with you, there’s no secondary door,” Dani pointed out.

Without another door or barrier, she believed light from the skylights and glass door could constantly flood the bedroom.

Dan agreed that the beautiful fluted glass door could create issues and suggested that a sliding door might be one possible solution.

Rick and Tayla Finally Finish a Room

The final stop was Rick and Tayla’s home — and Dan and Dani were delighted to see the father-daughter team had actually completed the room.

Dani was particularly impressed by the massive artwork running along the hallway between the bedroom and wardrobe.

“This artwork is fantastic,” she exclaimed.

Dan also found plenty to like, especially the flooring, although he wasn’t quite as enthusiastic about the artwork.

The pair did agree, however, that the coffered ceiling worked much better in House 5 than in House 4.

According to Dani, the difference was simple: they hadn’t overdone it.

Week 3 Delivers Winners and Losers

From questionable DIY tiling to giant wardrobes, controversial archways and unexpected lighting problems, this week’s walkarounds proved that finishing a room doesn’t always mean getting every design decision right.

But with Dan and Dani revealing their “Champs” and “Chumps” for Week 3, one thing is clear: the competition is heating up — and the teams will need to bring much more than expensive finishes if they want to impress the judges.

The Block is only getting more competitive, and after this week’s brutal walkarounds, some contestants may need to rethink their biggest design choices before the next reveal.
