Casey Donovan Reveals First Embryo Transfer in IVF Journey
The Australian Idol winner shared a candid glimpse into a deeply personal moment with fiancée Renee Sharples, telling followers: “Now we wait.”
Casey Donovan has revealed that she and her fiancée, Renee Sharples, have reached a significant milestone in their IVF journey: their first embryo transfer.
The Australian singer and former Australian Idol winner shared the update with fans in a candid social media post, explaining that the procedure had taken place at a fertility clinic.
“Today @renee.sharples and I did our first embryo transfer,” Donovan wrote.
She also gave followers a glimpse into the hectic days surrounding the procedure, revealing that she had flown from Sydney to Melbourne after performing a series of shows in New South Wales.
“I got the 6am flight back from Sydney to Melbourne and after a massive weekend of amazing shows in NSW it was great to be home into the loving arms of my love and put my legs up…Literally,” she wrote.
Donovan thanked the medical team involved in the process before turning her attention to the difficult part that follows an embryo transfer: waiting.
“Now we wait…What will be will be,” she wrote, adding a message of support for others going through IVF.
“Sending all of the love, light and baby dust to all who are on an IVF journey.”
Donovan has been open about the realities of IVF
The embryo transfer follows months of fertility treatment for Donovan and Sharples as they work toward starting a family together.
Donovan has previously spoken about trying to balance IVF treatment with a demanding career that has included touring and stage performances. Earlier in her journey, she underwent egg retrieval procedures while continuing to perform.
The couple’s decision to share parts of the process publicly has also given Donovan an opportunity to acknowledge the uncertainty and emotional strain that can accompany fertility treatment.
For now, however, the singer’s update was deliberately simple: the transfer had happened, and the waiting period had begun.

Donovan and Sharples announced their engagement in June 2024 after building their relationship over several years. The pair had first connected through a dating app during the COVID-19 pandemic before eventually beginning their relationship in person.
When Donovan announced their engagement, she described Sharples as the person who had made “home” feel like a person rather than a place.
In the Instagram announcement, she wrote that on June 21, 2024, “the love of my life asked me if I wanted to do this life together forever.”
The couple have since spoken publicly about their hopes of becoming parents.
Donovan’s IVF update offered followers a rare look at another stage of that journey, while making clear that the outcome of the transfer was still unknown at the time of her post.
For the couple, the next stage was simply to wait.
