Call of Duty players have a major seasonal update to look forward to as Activision has officially unveiled Black Ops 7 and Warzone Season 06: The Haunting.

Announced September 8, the Halloween-themed season is scheduled to launch September 17 at 9 a.m. PT, bringing new multiplayer maps, Zombies content, Warzone changes, weapons, events, a new Battle Pass and a major DOOM crossover.

The announcement helps explain why “Call of Duty” is trending now: Activision has released the full Season 06 roadmap, giving players their first detailed look at what is coming across Black Ops 7 and Warzone.

When Does Call of Duty Season 06: The Haunting Start?

Black Ops 7 Season 06 launches September 17 at 9 a.m. PT across all platforms.

The update will affect several parts of the Call of Duty experience rather than focusing on just one mode.

The central theme is Halloween, with supernatural environments, zombies, cosmic horror and the return of The Haunting seasonal concept.

Warzone Gets Haunted Hollow and Giant Infected

One of the biggest changes is coming to Call of Duty: Warzone.

The existing Haven’s Hollow Resurgence map is being transformed into Haunted Hollow, with new visual changes and eerie environmental discoveries.

Players will encounter locations affected by the supernatural takeover, including a burning Lumbermill, a gravity-defying Mansion vortex and strange cosmic tentacles dominating the skyline.

A Ghost Train will also travel through Haunted Hollow. Players can interact with the train to access Supply Boxes, a Buy Station, a Mystery Box and other resources before it phases out of reality.

Giant Infected Returns

Warzone is also getting the Giant Infected limited-time mode.

The mode supports 64 players, with eight players randomly selected as Infected at the beginning of the match.

The remaining Survivors must work toward constructing and detonating a DNA Bomb while attempting to survive the spreading infection.

Black Ops 7 Adds New Multiplayer Horror Content

Multiplayer is also receiving a substantial Halloween makeover.

The new Bloodstead map is a rethemed 6v6 environment based around a disturbing version of a Homestead location. Zombies, blood trails and horror-themed environmental details turn the familiar setting into something much darker.

Another new map, Quantum, takes players into a frigid Arctic computing facility.

The season will also introduce T.E.D.D. Trials, a limited-time 6v6 playlist that brings three Zombies maps into Multiplayer for the first time in Black Ops 7.

Zombies and Endgame Get New Content

Black Ops 7’s Endgame mode is getting a nighttime transformation as Avalon Night arrives.

The Haunting brings darkness to Avalon, changing the atmosphere and gameplay environment as squads deal with enemies and other threats under cover of night.

The major new Endgame event is Forbidden Summoning, which involves unlocking seals and releasing an ancient threat.

Zombies players will also get pumpkin-headed enemies in Rogue Run, while a new Super Easter Egg offers additional rewards for players who have completed the required Main Quests.

DOOM Is Coming to Call of Duty

Another major reason the Season 06 announcement is generating attention is the DOOM crossover.

The season will feature a DOOM-themed Event Pass alongside related Store content, including the Tracer Pack: DOOM Demonic Essence Bundle.

The collaboration adds another recognizable gaming franchise to an already heavily themed Halloween update.

New Weapons Coming in Season 06

Players will have several new weapons and equipment options to unlock.

The Season 06 Battle Pass includes the VMP SMG and TR51 Para Assault Rifle as free Base Weapons.

Additional weapons include the Arcblade Melee Weapon and Roc 20mm Special Weapon, which can be obtained through events and Weekly Challenges.

Activision is also introducing new weapon attachments during the season.

Season 06 Battle Pass Features Blackjack

The new Battle Pass is led by the Blackjack Operator and contains more than 100 rewards, including weapon blueprints, Operator skins, COD Points, emotes, calling cards and other items.

Players can purchase the standard Battle Pass for 1,100 COD Points, while the Battle Pass Bundle costs 2,400 COD Points and includes 20 Tokens.

BlackCell will provide additional premium rewards, including the Revenant Operator and an AN-94 Mastercraft Blueprint with additional variants.

Why Call of Duty Is Trending Now

The timing is important.

The Season 06 announcement arrived on September 8, just days before the September 17 launch. That gives Call of Duty players a large amount of newly confirmed information to discuss, including the Warzone map transformation, Giant Infected mode, DOOM crossover, new weapons and Battle Pass rewards.

Rather than being based on an unconfirmed leak or rumor, the current wave of interest is tied directly to Activision’s official Season 06 announcement.

For players who have been waiting for the next major Warzone or Black Ops 7 update, The Haunting represents one of the season’s biggest content drops and introduces Halloween-themed changes across nearly every major mode.

Call of Duty Season 06: The Haunting — What to Know
