Big Brother 28 Finale: Rick Devens Wins the Season After Survivor Run
Rick Devens has won Big Brother 28, completing a reality-TV crossover that became one of the defining storylines of the season.
Devens, who previously competed on Survivor, defeated Taylor Brown in the live finale on Thursday, October 1, taking the $750,000 grand prize. The jury voted 6–1 in his favor.
The result immediately puts Devens at the center of searches for “Big Brother” as viewers catch up with the finale and its unusual crossover storyline.
Rick Devens Wins the Final Head of Household
The finale began with three players still in contention: Devens, Brown and Drew Campbell.
Brown won the first part of the final three-part Head of Household competition. Devens then defeated Campbell in the second part, setting up the final showdown between Devens and Brown.
Devens won the third and final part.
That victory gave him the power to decide which player would sit beside him in the final two. He ultimately chose Brown, evicting Campbell and sending him to the jury.
The decision was particularly significant because Devens had developed a close relationship with Campbell during the game.
Taylor Brown Finishes as Runner-Up
Brown entered the final two after surviving the last round of the game.
During the jury questioning, she emphasized her ability to remain in the game through repeated challenges and difficult stretches of the season. Devens, meanwhile, made the case for his competition record and strategic moves.
When the jury votes were revealed, Devens won 6–1.
Brown received the $75,000 runner-up prize.
The Survivor Connection Made the Finale Different
Devens’ victory is drawing particular attention because he entered Big Brother 28 with an established reality-TV history.
He previously competed on Survivor, including Survivor: Edge of Extinction and Survivor 50. He was one of the season’s returning reality-TV figures, alongside fellow Survivor contestant Dee Valladares and former Big Brother player Angela Murray.
CBS had specifically highlighted the possibility of Devens becoming the first Survivor competitor to win Big Brother ahead of the finale.
Valladares was eliminated before the finale, leaving Devens as the final Survivor representative in the house.
That crossover storyline gave the finale an additional layer beyond the usual question of which houseguest would win.
Devens Also Won America’s Favorite Houseguest
The finale brought another major result for Devens.
He was voted America’s Favorite Houseguest, earning an additional $50,000. He had also collected $10,000 earlier in the season, bringing his reported total winnings to $810,000.
The combination of the grand prize and the fan-voted award made Devens the central figure of the Season 28 finale.
Why Big Brother Is Trending Now
The timing of the search spike is directly connected to Thursday night’s live finale.
Big Brother 28 concluded on October 1 after a 90-minute broadcast on CBS. The season had reached its final three with Devens, Brown and Campbell, making the finale the first opportunity for viewers to see who would actually claim the $750,000 prize.
The result also closes the season’s larger crossover storyline: Devens entered the competition with a Survivor résumé and left it as the winner of Big Brother.
Host Julie Chen Moonves also announced during the finale that Big Brother has been renewed for two additional seasons, extending the franchise through at least Season 30.
For viewers searching for the latest Big Brother result, the answer is now official: Rick Devens is the Season 28 winner.
